SELECTIVE RADIO INHIBITION OF TRUNKING SYSTEMS

• Disabling Radio individually and electronically is a very useful resource when the radio is lost
  
• Selective Radio inhibition is done by an IBM PC terminal connected to the central system controller through a radio link
  
• Inhibition or blocking information is transmitted to selected radio through control channel

COMPARING CONVENTIONAL SYSTEMS x ADVANTAGES OF TRUNKING SYSTEMS

CONVENTIONAL SYSTEMS
Compare a conventional system to a group of toll booth cabins on a road. The red cars can only use the red booth cabin, the green cars only green ones and the yellow cars only yellow ones.
As there is a somewhat similar number of cars in each color, the cabins are used efficiently.
The lane for red cars may be congested waiting for an available red booth cabin. Even if there are no green or yellow cars, the red cars must wait since they can only use the red booth cabin.

TRUNKING SYSTEM
If there are more users than agents, the single line will grow. A single line will grant all users equal access to the toll booths.

Why Trunking and not conventional then?
It is not likely that a great number of users may decide to make a call at the same time and most communication take quite a short time.
